Impound fees impede the poor

The entire impound fee process, whether it’s $300 or $220, is essentially using the police to rob from the poor and give to the rich.

Smart Start and other traffic safety programs are geared to local young people who enjoy the luxury of a car or the use of their parents’ car.

Residents need say on cell towers

Leasing of our so-called green space for placement of cell towers is driven by money.

Placement of those towers close to homes and schools is being driven by money and convenience. Money that is flowing from cellphone subscribers to providers to local governments that are inclined to solve budget problems by the hasty approval of these towers and locations.

Parks takes middle course

It is time for Washington, D.C., to get off the core ideals of the party and start representing the people.

We, the majority, do not want the right wing putting their Christian ideals into law, nor do we want the left-wing socialists giving away our country to the U.N. We want effective solutions to the huge problems that our country faces now.

Supervisor works for the people

Ever since Linda Parks began her community service as a City of Thousand Oaks planning commissioner in 1993, followed by her election to the City Council in 1996, in which she received the highest number of votes in that city’s history, Linda has demonstrated her selfless dedication to her community and the constituents that she serves.

Linda Parks has a website she calls “Honesty Counts,” but when it comes to honesty, Linda doesn’t seem to have a problem claiming she’s an independent despite having been a Republican her entire elected career.

Independent an attractive choice

Prejudice and discrimination run rampant again. It’s poking up its dirty nose, sniffing out the coming election.

According to the propaganda in my mailbox recently, pertaining to the race for Congress, some Democrats and Republicans don’t like anyone who is not labeled one way or another.

Strickland dissed public workers

At last week’s CLU-Acorn candidate forum, Tony Strickland sarcastically denigrated the people of the U.S. Postal Service and the DMV.

Is this what he thinks of other city, county, state and federal employees?

Riley Neel
Thousand Oaks

Congress needs independents

I’m sick of the Washington gridlock. We need independent citizens in Congress.

Brownley and Strickland are captives of their parties. Linda Parks offers an alternative. She will not owe any special interest group. She is running as an individual American without strings to the Democrats or Republicans.

Voters have right to representation

The initiative asking to fill City Council vacancies with a vote doesn’t require any special elections or use of city funds when a vacancy of the City Council requires action.

Up to this point in time, even if the vacancy occurred shortly after an official was elected to office, the City Council itself would appoint an interim member.

What have the Dems done?

In the last five years Democrats have controlled two-thirds of the government.

In the first two years of Obama’s administration he spent more money than all of the presidents before him combined, having no obstructions in either the House or Senate. He did submit a budget that even his own party couldn’t pass because the spending was so great.
