The Young Artists Ensemble will hold auditions for its teen summer musical presentation of “Cabaret” for performers ages 13 to 19 by appointment Sat. and Sun., June 2 and 3 at the Hillcrest Center for the Arts, 403 W. Hillcrest Drive.

Directed by Mark Andrew Reyes, “Cabaret” is set at the Kit Kat Club in Berlin during the rise of the Nazi party in 1931.

Youth orchestras perform famous movie scores

The Conejo Valley Youth Orchestras will present “Stage and Screen” at 3 p.m. Sun., June 3 at the Kavli Theatre, Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza, 2100 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd.

Performed by the three levels of the orchestra, the concert will feature music from movies, musicals and television.

Miller Y opens enrollment for fall after-school child care

The Miller Family YMCA of Newbury Park is accepting enrollment for its fall after-school child care program for students in grades one through eight.

The program begins Aug. 29 and takes place at the Miller Y, The Village at Dos Vientos Ranch, 320 Via Las Brisas, Newbury Park.

The 29th annual California Strawberry Festival will take place Sat. and Sun., May 19 and 20 at Strawberry Meadows of College Park, 3250 S. Rose Ave., Oxnard. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. both days.

Limited on-site parking is $10. The free park-and-ride Strawberry Express shuttles run every 10 to 15 minutes both days from seven locations off the 101 Freeway.
